Manual translations are missing after changing the theme

Translations for theme content are associated with the theme where they were created. When you publish or switch to a different theme, the new theme has its own translation resources, so translations from the previous theme are not automatically applied to it.

Store content and theme content are handled separately

Store content: Translations for Products, Collections, Pages, Blog posts, and Navigation are separate from theme translations. Changing themes should not normally affect them.

Theme content: Headings, text, Rich text, button labels, banners, sections, blocks, and default theme content belong to a specific theme. You need to add translations for them in the new theme.

Add translations to the new theme

  1. In Transtore, go to Language and click Manage language next to the target language.
  2. Under Translations, open Theme.
  3. Select the resource containing the content, such as Templates, Home page, or Default theme content.
  4. Find the content in the new theme and add or update its translation.
  5. Save your changes.

You can enter the translation manually or use Improve translations with AI.

For help finding a specific resource, see How to Find and Edit Translations in the Transtore App.

Translations from your previous theme

Changing themes does not necessarily remove translations associated with the previous theme. However, those translations are not automatically applied to the new theme.

Check the new theme on your storefront

Open your storefront, switch to the target language, and check the page containing the theme content.

If you cannot find the content from your new theme in Transtore, contact us at [email protected]. Include the previous and new theme names, target language, affected content, and storefront URL so our support team can investigate.
