Edited translation is not showing on the storefront
If a translation you edited in Transtore does not appear as expected, the storefront may be displaying content from a different resource, or Auto Translation may be translating the displayed content again.
Check that you edited the correct resource
The same text can appear in more than one resource. Editing one copy does not update another copy stored elsewhere.
- Open the Transtore app.
- Go to Language.
- Click Manage language next to the target language.
- Open the resource containing the content.
- Compare its default-language text with the exact content on your storefront.
- Edit the matching translation and save your changes.
For example, content created through the Shopify Theme Editor is usually under Theme > Templates, rather than Pages, Products, or Collections.
See How to Find and Edit Translations in the Transtore App for help finding the right resource.
Check whether the saved translation is in the target language
Auto Translation works on the content displayed on your storefront. If a saved manual translation is still written in the default language, Auto Translation may translate that text when the storefront is viewed in a target language.
For example:
- Your default language is English.
- Your target language is Italian.
- The original content is “Hello.”
- The saved manual translation is “Welcome.” This is still English, not Italian.
The storefront may display “Welcome” first, then Auto Translation may translate it into Italian as “Benvenuto.”
Check the saved translation in Transtore. If it is not written in the target language, edit it to the wording you want customers to see.
Auto Translation affects the content displayed on the storefront. It does not modify or delete the manual translation saved in Shopify.
Stop Auto Translation from translating a specific area again
If Auto Translation keeps changing the displayed content in a specific area, such as a banner, collection name, header, or footer, you can exclude that area from Auto Translation.
See Exclude specific content from Auto Translation for instructions.
Excluding an area stops Auto Translation for that area in all target languages. To show translated content there, make sure a manual translation is saved for each target language. If no manual translation exists for a language, the default-language content will remain unchanged.
Check the storefront again
After correcting the translation or excluding the affected area:
- Open your storefront in a Guest Profile or incognito window.
- Switch to the target language.
- Open the affected page and check the content again.
If the edited translation still does not appear, contact us at [email protected]. Include the default-language content, the saved translation, target language, storefront URL, and a screenshot so our support team can investigate.
