Google Merchant Center and SEO tools show default-language content

Transtore’s Auto Translation changes the content displayed on your storefront. It does not save that translated content to Shopify as a manual translation.

Auto Translation and external tools

Some feeds and SEO tools read translation data saved in Shopify rather than the translated text displayed on your storefront. If no manual translation exists for the content they retrieve, they may show the default-language version.

Create manual translations for the affected content

  1. Open the Transtore app.
  2. Go to Language and click Manage language next to the target language.
  3. Open the resource containing the content, such as Product, Collection, or Online store.
  4. Add the translation manually, or click Improve translation with AI.
  5. Review and save the translation.

These manual translations are saved to Shopify through its native Translation API. See Improve translations with AI for instructions.

Translate SEO titles and descriptions

If an SEO tool shows the default-language page title or description, check that the corresponding meta title and meta description are translated in Transtore.

See Translate meta titles and meta descriptions for instructions.

Check the language, Market, and URL

Make sure that:

  • The target language is published.
  • The language is available for the relevant Shopify Market and domain.
  • The external tool is checking the correct target language, country, and localized storefront URL.

For example, when checking French content, use the French storefront URL rather than the default-language URL.

Refresh the external data

After saving the manual translations, the external service may need to retrieve the updated content. If the tool offers an option to refresh its feed, recrawl a page, or fetch products again, use it to request updated data.

Transtore cannot control when an external service refreshes its feed, cache, or search index.

If the external tool still shows the default-language content, contact us at [email protected]. Include the affected product or page URL, target language, external tool name, and a screenshot so our team can help check the translation.
