Custom Liquid content cannot be edited in Transtore
Custom Liquid content does not appear in Transtore’s manual translation editor because Shopify does not provide translation keys for this type of content.
For the same reason, Custom Liquid content cannot be edited through Shopify Translate & Adapt.
Option 1: Use Auto Translation
Transtore can automatically translate visible text from a Custom Liquid section when customers view your storefront in a published target language.
Make sure that:
- The target language is published.
- The Transtore Switcher is enabled.
- The Custom Liquid text is visible on the storefront.
The translated content will appear on the storefront, but it will not appear as an editable manual translation in Transtore.
See How does Auto Translation work in Transtore? for more information.
Option 2: Move the content to a supported theme block
If you need to edit and save a manual translation, replace the Custom Liquid content with a supported theme section or block, such as:
- Rich text
- Heading
- Text
- Button label
Content created with supported theme settings can usually be found under Language → Manage language → Theme → Templates.
See How to Find and Edit Translations in the Transtore App for instructions.
Option 3: Add language-specific content to the Custom Liquid code
If the content must remain inside a Custom Liquid block, you can add a separate version for each language directly to the Liquid code.
For example:
{% case localization.language.iso_code %}
{% when 'it' %}
<p>Benvenuto nel nostro negozio</p>
{% when 'fr' %}
<p>Bienvenue dans notre boutique</p>
{% else %}
<p>Welcome to our store</p>
{% endcase %}
This content is managed directly in your theme code and will not appear in Transtore or Shopify Translate & Adapt for editing.
Editing Custom Liquid requires knowledge of Shopify Liquid. If you are unsure how to update the code, we recommend contacting your theme developer.
If you are unsure whether the affected content comes from Custom Liquid, please contact us at [email protected]. Include the exact text and storefront URL so our support team can help you identify it.
