Currency conversion flow in Transtore

Transtore converts the prices provided by the customer's active Shopify Market when they select another currency on your storefront.

How currency conversion works

  1. Shopify identifies the customer's active Market.
  2. Shopify provides the product price configured for that Market.
  3. The customer selects a currency from the Transtore Switcher.
  4. Transtore converts the Shopify Market price using the exchange rate configured for the selected currency.
  5. Transtore applies the selected rounding rule.
  6. The converted price is displayed on your storefront.

Transtore converts prices from the Home page through the Cart page, including:

  • Collection pages
  • Product pages
  • Search results
  • Cart drawers and Cart pages
  • Compatible third-party app content
How Transtore handles Shopify Market prices

Transtore does not change the product prices, Catalog prices, or default currencies configured in Shopify Markets. It only converts the prices displayed on your storefront.

Exchange rates and rounding rules

You can manage how Transtore converts prices under Currency > Manage currency:

  • Exchange rate - Determines how the Shopify Market price is converted into the selected currency.
  • Rounding rule - Determines how the final converted price is displayed.

See Set up currency rounding rules and exchange rates for instructions.

Currency conversion at checkout

Transtore's currency conversion applies to storefront pages only. When a customer proceeds to checkout, Shopify controls the displayed currency and final price.

Local currency at checkout

Customers can pay in their local currency at checkout only when your store uses Shopify Payments. Otherwise, Shopify may display your store's default currency at checkout.

See Does Transtore support local currencies at checkout? for more information.

Why prices may differ between Markets

Each Shopify Market can have its own Catalog prices, price adjustments, currency, taxes, and rounding settings.

Transtore uses the price provided by the customer's active Market. Therefore, the same product may display different prices across Markets, even when customers select the same currency.

See How does currency conversion work with Shopify Markets? for a detailed example.
